Administrative Review (AR)

An Administrative Review asks UKVI to re-check your decision for casework errors. It’s a paper review by a different caseworker. No hearing. No new application. No fresh evidence unless the rules allow it.

When it’s used

Common on points-based routes and many in-country decisions. It is not the same as a tribunal appeal.

What you can challenge

  • Misapplied rules or guidance
  • Misread facts or documents
  • Calculation mistakes

Deadlines

Usually 14 days in the UK or 28 days outside the UK. Follow your decision letter.

What to include

  • A copy of the decision letter
  • A clear list of the specific errors
  • References to documents already on file that prove the point

Outcomes

Maintain, withdraw, or re-make the decision.
